Giving Back: What’s in it for me?
The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. (Gandhi)
We have completely succumbed to our daily responsibilities, being pulled in various directions of our own personal world, trying to solve our daily hiccups that we have forgotten to stay connected to our community, to society.
Nevertheless, the best gift you can give someone is your time, because you are giving them something that you are never going to get back. Giving back does not refer to monetary donations alone, but also to giving your support, effort and time; whether by actively volunteering at a homeless shelter, hospital, nursing home or participating in various awareness walks; or simply joining a non-profit organization in your community and getting involved in the projects they organize. Come to mention some of the notable nonprofit organizations are:
The lions “We serve”
With 13.5 million members around the world, they have become a fast growing service club organization. Their objective is to help local communities fight blindness, care for the environment, feed the hungry, aid the seniors and so much more.
Kiwanis “Serving the children”
Located in 80 nations, the Kiwanis help their communities by serving the children, one child and one community at a time. They created programs such as: bring up the grades, developing key leaders, read around the world.
The rotary international
founded by Paul B Harris, a Chicago attorney in 1905. They fight to eradicate polio, make new grants, promote peace, empower young people, and provide clean water.
As a local business in the West Covina community, we don’t like to selflessly preach Giving Back, We act on it, and our involvement in our community is a paramount interest.
TL MOTORS has members in the Lions and The Kiwanis clubs, it is also a source of support for project 29:11 and currently organizing a fundraiser for the local schools of West Covina.
Ultimately to answer the initial question: the potent empowerment , the delight of making a difference in someone else’s life, the rewarding adventure and the psychological high we feel are all part of the intangible benefit we get of giving back .
